VANDRAR, LIGHT BEER, 4,5%
For hundreds of years the main road between east and west has passes thru Vinje. Travellers and passerbys have always had influence on the town along the road.
“Vandrar” meaning, “walker” or “traveller” is a kølsch-inpired beer. It has a light color and a slight taste of citrus. It goes well with bbq and seafood.
MOTBAKKEØL, PALE ALE, 4,7%
“Motbakke”, meaning “uphill”, is a pale ale where the sweet and dry flavours are well balanced. It is a light beer with hops. It also goes good with seafood as well as wild game meat.
Originally it was a local priest who asked for “uphill-beer” – as you all know, life has its ups and downs.
DIKTARØL, RED ALE, 4%
Diktarøl og “Poets-beer”, is a red ale with a rusty color and a dominating malt flavour.
Vinje has been the birth place of many poets and writers throughout the years.
VIPA, INDIAN PALE ALE, 4,7%
Vipa is our own IPA! A wide assembly of hops gives this beer a hint of citrus and flower meadows. It is well suited to be enjoyed on its own, or together with meat, stews or cheese with a lot of flavor.
HANAHOME, PILS, 4,7%
Hanahome is a classic pilsener with our own little twist – dry hops with American hops.
An old local story tells the tale of a large and proud rooster living on the priest farm in Vinje. The day the rooster god beheaded he flopped his wings so hard, he actually flew away. They found the body 1 km away on a small island in lake Vinje. They say you have to be on watch if you row past the island Hanahome on lake Vinje.
VERDSARV, STOUT, 4,7%
This stout has many sought-after qualities; it is tall, dark and robust.
Verdsarv is our darkest beer brewed with chocolate malt, oats and water from lake Møsvatn.
Once when Europe was facing a terrible shortage of food, Sam Eyde’s production of fertiliser in Rjukan saved millions of lives. The water from lake Møsvatn was a big part of the production.
Verdsarv, meaning “world heritage”, goes well with dark meat or fine chocolate.
TVISYN, AMERICAN PALE ALE, 4,7%
Tvisyn is the ability to see the right and wrongs in life, and to see a case from different viewpoints.
Tvisyn is a beer made in honour of Aasmund Olavsson Vinje, who is known as a writer, journalist, critic, poet and a man of the wilderness.
This beer was brewed on the 200th-year celebration of Aasmund’s birth on June 4th 1818.
Tvisyn is our APA, with a dominant malt flavour, well balanced with four different kinds of American hops.
The beer is golden with a moderate bitterness, some sweetness, a hint of flowers with a dry and fresh aftertaste.
It goes well with most foods; from trout fished here in Vinje with potatoes, to homemade burgers or spicy food dishes.
